Omar Mustapha El Assir
Omar El Assir leads the International Corporate and Tax and Arbitration & ADR practice groups.
Omar acts for a range of corporate clients and financial institutions such as mergers and acquisitions, corporate and tax structuring and restructuring, corporate finance transactions including private placements and initial public offerings. Omar's experience extends also to banking law.
Omar had advised and represented government bodies and private companies on issues and in cases relevant to domestic and international arbitration. He also acted as legal consultant of the Lebanese Ministry of Telecommunications for the highly-publicized International Chamber of Commerce arbitration cases involving the two former Lebanese GSM Operators, Libancell and FTML and the Republic of Lebanon.
Omar is the author of several articles and legal publications tackling, amongst others, issues relating to corporate law, securities regulation, corporate governance and arbitration law and practice.
Omar holds a LLB degree from the Saint Joseph University and a LLM degree from the University of Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) in International Private Law and International Business Law.
He joined the Beirut Bar in 2001 and was registered as a Lawyer on 08-04-2005.
Mr. El Assir speaks English, Arabic and French.
